Skyduck is a bilingual solo show written by Sam Wang and directed by Aileen Huynh that attempts to address the most challenging question in contemporary theatre:
How do you put an international, action spy comedy on stage with Hollywood-level aerial dogfights?
Utilising AV, puppets and musical numbers, Skyduck is a quirky and irrelevant parody of China’s top secret agents attempting to steal America’s top fighter jet software in the early nineties - all while Australia was busy preparing for the Sydney Olympic!
After premiering in 25A at Belvoir St Theatre, Skyduck received two honourable mentions in Timeout and Audrey Journal for ‘Best of 2019 on stage in Sydney’, as well as earning Sam a nomination for Best Male Lead in an Independent Production at the Sydney Theatre Awards 2019.
Think Chinese Top Gun with 007 to a J-Pop backing track!
